Zambia U20 national team beat Comoros Islands 2-0 to continue their quest of a Semifinal spot at the ongoing COSAFA U20 Championships.
Zambia came into the match as favorites and controlled the match but failed to make use of the possession which they had in abundance. Francisco Mwepu had a number of chances to put Zambia in the lead but failed to make use of them and the match went to the break level at 0-0.
Zambia finally got their opening goal 16 minutes into the second half with Mwepu getting on the end of a well-worked team move to put the Young Copper Bullets in the lead.
Substitute Eliot Kampukesa doubled the lead in the 81st minute after getting on the end of a John Chishimba free-kick to make it 2-0. Mwepu had a chance to extend the lead five minutes from time after the referee awarded Zambia a penalty but Comoros goalkeeper Ahmed Fadjidou did well to save it, 2-0 the match ended.
Botswana and Malawi played to an entertaining 2-2 draw in the other fixture in the group a match which also sprung to life in the second half.
Angola made it two wins from two in Group C as they played to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mozambique. Ambrosini Salvador grabbed the only goal of the game in the second half, his third in two matches, as the Angolans’ impressive start to the competition continued.
