Ryan Giggs has revealed that he jokingly told Daniel James he would lose his Wales place if Manchester United failed to beat Manchester City.
James' burst in pace caused all sorts of problems to City with two of the goals coming from swift counter-attacks as the Welshman assisted Martial's goal.
Speaking as a pundit on Premier League Productions, Giggs was asked about James' performance, "I told him that if he doesn’t win today I’m not picking him!"
Former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel also spoke had this to say on his performance, "Someone who is not going to grab the headlines is Daniel James.
"Today he was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counter-attack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side.
"Ryan must be so happy to see one of his players perform so well. He’s played every single game this season and he’s still playing well. That’s a fantastic signing and he played fantastic today."
