KPL Review: Let’s talk about Kariobangi Sharks

Time is running out for William Muluya and Kariobangi Sharks and there is no reason why anyone should ask why.

The Nairobi based team recorded their seventh loss of the season in week 12 at the hands of Tusker FC. Others might reason that their opponents are in some good form but the fact remains that they are yet to win a league game since October; the win coming against a Chemelil side that has picked only a point the entire season.

Muluya knows he is under pressure even if that’s not the news coming from his bosses. As a coach, all you wake up for in training and games is to collect points and when that can’t happen when you are in trouble.

Trouble because at the start of the season I was said his boys were not giving in the required input due to financial challenges but they haven’t looked any better since having a sponsor on board last month. The former Mathare United man still exudes confidence that things will change for the better in the near future and we hope that his bosses have the same patience to see him overturn things.

Rangers Big Loss

In the week, Rangers was another team that gave a shocking result. For Sammy Omollo, a coach more known for keeping opposition strikers at bay, shipping in five goals against a KCB side who didn’t have their coach with them was a shocker.

Kakamega Homeboyz once again showed why they shouldn’t be written off by brushing of Nzoia Sugar. It might not have been a win of a greater margin but a win is a win anyway and they find themselves in the third position just two points below leaders Gor Mahia.

Bandari finally managed a win, and it came against Wazito FC. Just as Sharks, their last win came in October and it was the walkover against Chemelil. They’ve never looked the same team since being ousted from the CAF Confederations Cup and have managed almost a point a game if their 12 points in 11 games are anything to go by. They take on Kisumu All-Stars in their next clash and will hope that the Wazito win is the first of many wins as they look to close on the chasing pack.
