Scottish League Cup winners Celtic are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a permanent deal ahead of the January transfer window.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been impressed with Forster and his outstanding displays this season and firmly believes he can convince the board to sign him permanently.
Forster who is currently on the loan from Premier League side Southampton was one of the outstanding players in the Hoops' Scottish Cup title win over fellow Old Firm rivals Rangers.
It has emerged that Southampton are not interested in keeping him at the club and that may make it easier for Celtic to approach the deal and the Saints would be smart to cash in on him.
However, the only issue that may hinder the process is Forster's wages as he is currently being paid £70,000 a week at Southampton and that may put a dent on the Scottish outfit's budget.
Forster would likely have to consider a slightly lower pay if he is interested in continuing his journey with Celtic as he is guaranteed game time which in return has proved fruitful.
