๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‡ Sundowns 3-1 Stellenbosch: Zwane at his daring best

Mamelodi Sundowns kept the pressure on leaders Kaizer Chiefs after beating Stellenbosch FC 3-1 in tonight’s Absa Premiership game at the Loftus Versveld.

Themba Zwane, working on his full fitness after a longish injury lay off, produced the goods with a goal and an assist.

Coach Pitso Mosimane rang the changes after Wydad Casablanca last weekend and before Maritzburg United in the TKO final this Saturday.

The 23-year-old right back Nicholus Lukhubeni was one of the seven starting changes that included Sphelele Mkhulise and Rivaldo Coetzee.

Stellenbsosch had a dominant and bright start to deservedly go 1-0 up with a Ryan Moon header on 35 minutes. Sundowns’ Zwane, though illegally, fooled the referee with a dive in the box before stepping up to score the penalty for 1-1 on 57 minutes.

Ugly scenes followed when Mogamad De Goede’s flying tackle on Coetzee resulted in a red card on 61 minutes - and the same moment saw red card number two when a furious Reyaad Pieterse was sent off from the bench.

It was 2-1 on 85 minutes as Zwane laid a perfect through ball to find Mkhulise’s superb run - the boy they call “Pitso” took one touch to control with his right before slotting past Boy de Jong.

Substitute Keletso Makgalwa was on hand to finish off Stellies with a cool right shot for 3-1 in injury time. The win meant Sundowns remain 10 points behind leaders Chiefs.
