Rayon Sports captain Eric Rutanga is on the verge of joining Tanzania Premier League giants Yanga SC.
Reports from The Times indicate that talks between Yanga and the player are at an advanced stage and the Rwandese could move to Tanzania as early as next month.
The left-back could join his former APR teammate, Patrick Sibomana, at the Dar es Salaam-based side in January 2020 should both parties find common ground.
Speaking to the Times, Rutanga confirmed that he still has a two-year contract with Rayon but couldn’t rule a move to Yanga.
“I am happy here. And, I still have a contract to honor but I will also be happy to join them (Young Africans) if both sides agree to the deal. It would be a good challenge and opportunity for growth for me as a footballer,” he said.
The 27-year-old has been one of the most sought after players in East Africa with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia said to have expressed interest in him when they lost Godfrey Walusimbi to Kaizer Chiefs last year.
