Oliver Giroud throws his Chelsea future in doubt

Chelsea striker Oliver Giroud has thrown his future with the club in doubt after admitting he could leave in January.

The French striker has been reduced to a bench role by manager Frank Lampard who has Tammy Abraham as his main striker with Michy Batshuayi as his understudy since the season started.

Speaking in an interview with Le Dauphiné Libéré Giroud said: “It is going to be difficult to stay at Chelsea. I am going to have a conversation with the coach. There is a very high chance that there will be a change because I am not receiving enough playing time to express myself.

“For the moment, I am a Chelsea player. I still have a few more matches to play with the club between now and when the transfer window opens. After that, we are going to sit around the table and make the best decision for me. A move to France is a possible solution.”

Giroud situation has been instigated by his urge to make then France Euro 2020 squad with his national team head coach Didier Deschamps having admitted last month that it will be difficult to hand him a call up if he didn’t have enough games at club level.

Inter Milan is believed to be one of the teams to have shown interest in the former Arsenal man though a series of clubs in France are salivating for his signature too.
