Jurgen Klopp lauds Takumi Minamino after debuting against Everton

After Takumi Minamino made his debut in the 1-0 win over Everton, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp termed his performance as "outstanding".

Minamino made the move from Red Bull Salzburg last week in a deal worth £7.25 million and was part of the nine changes made by Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby.

Minamino was subbed off in the 70th minute for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but showed Liverpool fans glimpses of what he is capable of.

Speaking in a press conference after the win over Everton, Klopp was asked to assess Minamino's debut, " He was super, outstanding, exactly the player we wanted.

"His first game in a team he doesn’t know, he had two sessions, showing the game understanding, football skills and attitude. Outstanding."

Curtis Jones fired Liverpool to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup courtesy of a stunning strike as Klopp named a number of young and inexperienced players in his starting line up.
