Pep Guardiola responds to Robin van Persie's criticism of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Following Robin van Persie's criticism of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Pep Guardiola has insisted that the Manchester United manager does not need to change but has to accept that he will get criticism.

United lost out to Arsenal 2-0 on New Year's day with Robin van Persie criticizing Solskjaer for smiling in a post-match interview.

"[Angry] yeah, sometimes, it’s part of his job as well. Just be angry. I see him smiling now, after a game like that, you know. This is not the moment to smile, " said van Persie.

Speaking ahead of the Manchester Derby, Guardiola reacted to van Persie's criticism of Solskjaer, "Every manager is in front of the press conference, in front of the players the way they are.

"Normally you have the tendency to imitate the other managers who have had success. We never want to imitate a manager who doesn’t have success.

"Ole is who he is if he wants to smile, it’s perfect if he wants to conduct the team in that way, why should he change? Everyone is everyone.

"Some are more expressive, others are calm, others shout more on the touchline, others sit. Who is the better? The guy who wins the last weekend. That is the best manager."
