Harambee Stars midfielder Francis Kahata has pocketed Tsh 1 Million (Approx Ksh 44,000) after being named as the best player in the Tanzania Premier League for the month of December.
Kahata who joined Simba from Gor Mahia after his contract with the Kenyan giants expired in June 2019 a slow start to life in Tanzania but had a new lease of life in December where he scored two goals and provided one assist as helped his team to open a ten-point gap in the league.
The former Thika United and KF Tirana man beat off stiff competition from teammate Hassan Dilunga and Bakari Mwanyeto of Coastal Union.
Yanga SC coach Boniface Mkwasa was named as the best coach in the month after grabbing wins against Biashara United and Prisons and holding Mbeya City and KMC FC during the month. Other coaches who were in contention being Simba’s Sven Vandenbroeck and Coastal Union’s Juma Mgunda.
Kahata is part of the Simba squad currently in Zanzibar where they are taking part in the 13th edition of the Mapinduzi Cup; the team opening their campaign with a 3-1 win over Zanzibar’s Jeshi La Zimamoto.
