Mourinho hails Eriksen after Spurs win over Middlesbrough

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho was happy with how midfielder Christian Eriksen played during Spurs' victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Spurs registered a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup return leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Giovani Lo Celso put the north London side ahead in the 2nd minute before Erik Lamela netted the second 13 minutes later.  George Saville was on target for the visitors in the second half, a goal that turned out to be a consolation.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho was delighted with Eriksen's performance whose future with the club remains unknown.

"He played very well, very professional which is what I expect from him. If his decision is to leave I think he has to leave with his head up, if he gives everything which is what he tries to do for the team," he said as quoted by the club's official website.

The 27-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Italian side Inter Milan is yet to sign a new deal with the current contract set to expire in the summer.
