Cyriel Dessers of Heracles Almelo in Belgian is itching and dreaming to wear the famous green & white of Nigeria.
The Dutch-born striker has Nigerian origins and has his name hot in Nigerian media after winning the Revelation of the Year award from the The Ballers Awards. Dessers' season numbers currently show 15 goals, six assists in 20 games.
“Honoured to get this award! It means a lot to me, thanks @9ja_footballers and people who voted for me. Hope to see you soon 🇳🇬 #BallersAwards,” said the 24-year-old.
Dessers, who was born to a Nigerian mother and Belgian father, confirmed having communications with the Nigeria Football Federation last month.
"There has already been contact with the Nigerian association. After the match against ADO Den Haag, the assistant from Nigeria sent me a message that I was doing well,” he said in Brila via Belgian media.
“But that is not going to be easy either because there are 300 million Nigerians worldwide.I have never been to Nigeria, also because the political situation has not been so calm in recent years.
“The last year is only slightly better. I would like to go there and it would be twice as good to do that even if it’s only to play a friendly game against Madagascar or Mauritius,” added the striker.
