Yanga SC on Wednesday afternoon suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Kagera Sugar in a Vodacom Premier League (VPL) match played at National Stadium, Dar Es Salaam.
A first-half strike by Yusuph Mhilu gave the visitors a half time lead before Ally Ramadhan and Peter Mwalyanzi added two more goals as Kagera Sugar stemmed their woeful run of five matches without a win.
Mhilu scored in the 13th minute with an error from Kelvin Yondani gifted Ramadhan with the second goal in the 67th minute. Mwalyanzi ensured that Kagera got maximum points with a sweet finish in the 90th minute.
The win sees Kagera Sugar rises to fourth on the VPL log with 27 points while Yanga drops to eighth with 25 points with three matches in hand.
Yanga unveiled former AFC Leopards coach Belgian Luc Eymael on Monday. The coach is part of the club's rebuilding efforts that have seen former Gor Mahia striker Gnamien Yikpe and Ghanaian Bernard Morrisonjoin the side.
Yanga will next play Azam on Saturday while Kagera Sugar host Singida United on February 1.
