New Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Anthony Akumu is oozing with high self-belief after signing for the Absa Premiership giants.
As widely reported here on Futaa this week, Akumu is now living in Johannesburg after leaving Zesco United to become a Chiefs footballer.
With Kenyan players such as Ali Abondo, Clifton Miheso, and Kevin Omondi having dismally failed in the PSL, including ex-Zesco teammate & Zambia’s Lazarous Kambole’s prolonged struggle to settle and prove his quality at Chiefs this season, many followers of the club have raised concerns over Akumu’s ability to make it all a success.
"Critics were there even before I signed for [Kaizer Chiefs] and their negative energy does not surprise me," Akumu Goal today.
"Yes, some of my colleagues failed in South Africa but I am not them; we are different in terms of abilities and efforts we give in. It is all about knowing what you want in life."
Akumu summarized the chat by expressing a positive attitude to open himself up high growth and improving his football in Soweto.
"My target is to keep improving every single day, it is not going to change. I believe, at Chiefs, I will develop and become even better for the club and country," Akumu concluded.
The log-leading Chiefs next take on the struggling Black Leopards away on Saturday - depending on the speed of his work permit process, Akumu could make the trip to Limpopo.
