The Athletic's David Ornstein has reported that Arsenal's talks with PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa have reached an advanced stage.
An injury crisis at left fullback has necessitated that Mikel Arteta seeks out a reinforcement in that area of the pitch, with Kieran Tierney out long term with a dislocated shoulder and Sead Kolasinac struggling with ankle and thigh problems. That leaves only teenage winger Bukayo Saka, who has been deputising at left-back recently.
Arsenal in advanced talks to sign PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa. Negotiating today over deal for this window. Free agent in summer so trying to do it now without fee. #AFC working on 3-4 loan / free / low fee deals (doesn’t mean will do all) @TheAthleticUK: https://t.co/OmzZiA5Ije— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 16, 2020
Ornstein believes that Arsenal will tie up a deal for Kurzawa, and then turn their attentions to three more transfer targets. It's believed that Arsenal will be shopping in the loan market or looking for free agents and/or players commanding low transfer fees.
With Eddie Nketiah being retained by Arsenal after his unsuccessful loan stint with Leeds United, Arsenal's attentions targets are in central defence and central midfield.
