Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has installed Harry Maguire as the club's new full-time captain, taking over from Ashley Young.
Maguire joined United back in July from Leicester City in a deal reported to be in the region of £80million and has captained United in a number of games.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Liverpool clash, Solskjaer confirmed that Maguire is the new United captain.
"Harry is wearing the captain’s armband and will keep wearing it, he’s been a leader in the group, I’ve been, not surprised, but impressed by his leadership skills, so he will continue wearing the armband.
"He’s come in and everything about him tells me he’s a leader. He’s part of a group that we’ve had that have been leading this young group, Ashley has been, David, Marcus, Harry, so Harry will keep on wearing the armband."
Maguire will wear the armband for the first time as United's permanent skipper against champions-elect Liverpool on Sunday.
