Tottenham have been handed a major injury boost with first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris resuming training.
Lloris has been on the sidelines for three months after dislocating his elbow during Brighton's Premier League at the start of October. The Frenchman has missed 20 matches across all the competition, during which time Mauricio Pochettino was sacked, and Jose Mourinho appointed.
In absence of Lloris, Paulo Gazzaniga has deputized and bared a few errors the Argentine has made a smooth transition and largely impressed during a turbulent period for the club.
"I said February a month ago. If you say late or early, I’d say early [February]. Things are going well, getting his confidence back, he’s training so I’d say he’s one of our new players," said Mourinho.
With Tottenham’s stand-in skipper Harry Kane sidelined until April at the earliest, Mourinho will be keen to add Lloris’ leadership to his side at the earliest opportunity – especially considering their poor defensive record.
