Absa Premiership leaders Chiefs got held by Black Leopards in a 1-1 draw at the Thohoyandou Stadium today.
Coach Ernst Middendorp was without the suspended George Maluleka and an off-form Kearyn Baccus. Yagan Sasman and Bernard Parker therefore returned to the line-up.
Leopards Cavin Johnson made sure to select all his most experienced footballers for the day: Thabo Matlaba, Edwin Gyimah, Robert Ng’ambi and Mogakolodi Ngele.
Chiefs shot ahead on 12 minutes thanks to a Samir Nurkovic header and a perfect Lebogang Manyama corner. The 30th minute mark brought some Ngele brilliance. The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward curled in a flying free-kick for 1-1.
Ngele almost grabbed a brace and a famous win around 80 minutes but his near post effort was met with a superb Daniel Akpeyi save.
The share of the spoils left Chiefs with 10 points ahead of Sundowns while Leopards remain in the bottom three.
