๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ U20 Women's WCQ's: Haalubono optimistic of qualification to the second round despite first-leg loss

Zambia U20 Women's national team head Charles Haalubono believes his team still has a chance to progress to the next round of the Costa Rica/Panama 2020 World Cup qualifiers.

Zambia suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of South Africa's Basetsana on Saturday at Nkoloma Stadium. Haalubono admitted that his team made mistakes in critical areas.

"Yes we can still qualify because we have a game to play, " he said.

"It was not good we made errors in critical areas. We will do better. We have lost , we made mistakes in defense and they capitalized on those mistakes and punished us."

"We played a very good team so we just have to improve on reducing errors in those critical positions in the return leg, " he added.

Basetsana gaffer Jabulile Baloyi was left very happy with the result. Baloyi says the junior Copper queens played well in the second half and just made mistakes in the first half.

" Yes am very happy with the result and we go back with a positive result. Yes, they committed those two errors in the first half but in the second half they came at us and it was unsettling for us," she said.

The return leg will be played in South Africa on the weekend of January 31 to February 2 with the winner over two legs taking on either Namibia or Botswana in the next round.
