Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti will not take a risk with injured Alex Iwobi when they file out against Newcastle on Tuesday night.
Iwobi has not kicked a ball in 2020 after injuring his hamstring against Arsenal in December 2019.
The 23-year-old has returned to training but the English Premier League fixture against Newcastle United at Goodison Park has come too early.
“Iwobi is doing well but won’t be risked,” Ancelotti told a news conference on Monday afternoon.
"We have had a lot of games, so the players are not recovering properly. We take more risks in this period. We are having a busy time and I think after this game, we have a period where we can train properly and have a good rest.”
Iwobi has made 16 league appearances for Everton this season and scored one goal since joining from Arsenal last summer for a fee of 35 million pounds.
