Zamalek has finally confirmed that they will travel to Doha, Qatar to play Tunisia's Esperance Tunis in African Super Cup on February 14.
Zamalek had initially expressed their reluctance to travel to the Middle East nation because of ongoing political hostilities between the two counties.
On 5 June 2017, The Egyptian government diplomatic relations with Qatar. The Egyptians cited Qatar's continuing support for "terrorism", such as the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is banned by the government and considered a terrorist organization.
The Super Cup is contested between Caf Champions League winner and Caf Confederation Cup champion. It was originally scheduled to be played in October last year but it was postponed as Wydad Casablanca strongly protested Esperance Tunis win.
The rescheduled tie flew into headwinds after Zamalek announced that wit would not travel to Doha due to the prevailing political tensions in the Middle East.
