With the Premier League taking a mini holiday this weekend with English sides in FA Cup action, our domestic league focus switches to the rest of Europe with capital clashes, tight title races and glamour fixtures being the order of the day.
Here are the matches that Futaa's football fanatics will be keeping an eye on this weekend.
🇪🇸 Valencia vs Barcelona
Valencia hasn't won a home match in LaLiga against Barcelona since 2006/2007. They have scored in 18 consecutive matches this season though, a stat that will give them plenty of confidence. The 12 meetings between the sides at Mestalla since Valencia's last win have produced seven draws, indicating that it's often tight. Barca rested a handful of names in a Copa Del Rey clash against Ibiza in midweek, but Messi and co should be back; new boss Quique Setien will need his big guns as Barca remain locked on up with Real Madrid on 43 points apiece at the summit.
🇩🇪 Bayern Munich vs Schalke
Bayern has won five competitive fixtures in a row, scoring 18 goals in that sequence. They've also won their last two Bundesliga matches with clean sheets, showing that the reigning champions are starting to improve the defensive side of their game. Schalke is unbeaten in their last four matches and can also boast two clean sheet win in their last two outings. With the visitors still very much in the hunt for a Champions League finish and Bayern simply having to win in order to keep within touching distance of leaders RB Leipzig, this should be a cracker.
🇮🇹 Roma vs Lazio
It's Derby Day in the Italian capital city of Rome. Lazio arrives brimming with confidence, after winning 11 consecutive Serie A matches and setting a club record in the process. Ciro Immobile is Serie A's top scorer with 23 goals and he's red hot at the moment. Roma has won four of their last six matches too, and with Edin Dzeko available after suspension, it's a collision of two of the finest finishers in Italian football.
🇮🇹 Napoli vs Juventus
It's reaching the business end of the season, and that usually indicates that it's time for Cristiano Ronaldo to start picking things up a bit. The Juve talisman has seven goals in four matches in 2020 so far, which sounds unsurprising by his standards but those are just the ridiculous standards that he sets. Napoli is suffering their worst Serie A campaign since 2007/08, with four losses in their last five. CR7 and league leaders Juventus will be smelling blood.
🇫🇷 Lille vs PSG
With Neymar scoring in nine consecutive matches in all competitions and Kylian Mbappe, well, being Kylian Mbappe, Lille won't be particularly excited at the prospect of facing PSG this weekend. Lille has lost their last two matches in Ligue 1, conceding six goals and scoring just once in the process, hardly ideal preparation as they roll out the red carpet for PSG's deadly duo.
Here's to another fantastic football feast.
