Kaizer Chiefs extended their Absa Premiership lead after beating Golden Arrows 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium today.
Lebogang Manyama netted a very late winner after Arrows had held Chiefs for over 90 minutes. Amakhosi welcomed back George Maluleka and Dumisani Zuma to the line up - while Steve Komphela also made as many changes with Divine Lunga and Seth Parusnath coming in.
Chiefs were the first side to nearly break the deadlock on 20 minutes. Erick Mathoho hit a volley that went narrowly wide after he was teed-up by Kgotso Moleko.
While Arrows were typically a deep-sitting Steve Komphela side, Manyama was brilliantly set up by Zuma but Lebo’s shot was superbly blocked by Siyabonga Dube.
Amakhosi’s dramatic winner would eventually come in injury time. A minty Reeve Frosler cross found a Samir Nurkovic volley that was parried by AmaZulu’s keeper but fell for Manyama. The Alexandra-born forward chested the rebound before slotting in a volley into the far post.
The win leaves Chiefs with 10 points ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns who have a game in hand.
