Gabriel Jesus grabbed a brace as Manchester City registered a 4-0 win over Fulham FC on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium to qualify to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
If Fulham had any ambitions of upsetting City in their own backyard, they were quashed in the sixth captain Ream pulled down Gabriel Jesus a few yards from goal; the referee having no option but to send the defender and giving a penalty to the hosts. Up stepped Gundogan to put City into the lead.
One man down and having no chance, it was only a matter of time before matters got worse for Fulham. Knocking the ball around and pinning the visitors on their own half, City were to double their lead in the 19th minute through Bernado Silva.
Captain David Silva was to pass to Bernardo Silva, who turned once, then again, and had time and space to crack a left-footed shot into the bottom corner. Despite the disadvantages, Fulham was able to hold on to the two-goal setback as the teams went for a breather.
Fulham seemed to have had a different approach in the second half and they did well in keeping City at bay but that couldn’t prevent them for conceding a third in the 73rd minute. City had worked down the left with Cncelo pinging in a cross that was emphatically headed in by Jesus. There was a VAR review for a possible offside on the scorer but the goal stood.
Jesus was to add a fourth three minutes later after Fulham had lost possession to hand the Brazilian an easy goal after keeper Rodak had saved his initial shot from.
