NPFL: Lobi Stars regain top spot, MFM hold Plateau

Lobi Stars are back to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League even with one game less following Sunday's 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United.

Plateau United were unseated from the top of the log after playing a goalless draw with MFM FC as the Jos club now has 29 points from 17 matches, two points behind leaders Lobi Stars.

Chigozie Obasi put Lobi Stars ahead in the 8th minute before Samad Kadiri doubled the advantage in added time. Chinedu Ohanachom reduced the deficit for Nasarawa United deep into stoppage time to end the tie at 2-1.

In Akure, Sunshine Stars and Kano Pillars played an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Anthony Omaka gave Pillars the lead nine minutes before the break, while Auwalu Ali levelled up for Pillars in the 49th minute.

Omaka put Sunshine Stars ahead for the second time in the game a minute after the hour mark only for Ali to equalised again nine minutes later.

At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Warriors defeated Warri Wolves 1-0 courtesy of Okon Otop 90th minute strike, Complete Sports reported.

Akwa United edged out Heartland 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Heartland took the lead through Chukwuemeka Obioma in the 15th minute, but the home team rallied back through goals from Ndifreke Effiong (brace) and Akarandut Orok.
