The January transfer window is set to close on Friday the 31st at 00:00, and several teams are rushing to complete transfers before the deadline.
According to The Sun, Newcastle United is one of these teams, as they are planning a late bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Spanish striker Paco Alcacer.
The 26-year-old forward is struggling for game time at BVB having played only 10 minutes league football since the end of November, even though his form has been impressive with seven goals and two assists in 15 all appearances to his name so far this season.
The former Valencia hitman has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Erling Braut Haaland who chose the German club over Manchester United.
Haland is already enjoying life in Germany and it might be hard for Alcacer to get back to being a favorite pick.
Magpies boss Steve Bruce is reportedly holding talks with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in order to secure a £25m loan-to-buy deal for the Spanish international.
Bruce has already brought in Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb on loan deals with the option to buy in this transfer window as he aims to keep his side well clear of the relegation zone.
