Why Anderlecht sporting director regrets signing Samir Nasri

Belgian side Anderlecht's sporting director has said that the club regrets signing French castaway Samir Nasri.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City star agreed to join the Belgian top division side as he seeks to revive his career. But that move looks like it backfired as the Anderlecht are now having second thoughts about Nasri spending time at their club.

Speaking to the Belgian press, the club's sporting director Michael Verschueren says that they don't see themselves spending more time with the midfielder.

Asked about the Nasri situation at the club, he delivered a short and curt response painting a picture of a club tired with a player.

"To redo, would he have signed Nasri? With what we know now, no!" He said.

Seventh home

The 32-year-old joined the Belgian side in June last year on a free transfer with much fanfare and expectations by the club. He, however, has only played seven matches and has been missing since October last year.

In May 2019, West Ham announced that Nasri would leave the club at the end of his contract in June 2019. He was released by West Ham at the end of the 2018–19 season.

With such a situation, it is likely that the two parties will part ways in summer and the former France international will be looking for his seventh club in 15 years.
