BBC Radio Solent presenter Adam Blackmore has provided a positive injury update on Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
Ward-Prowse sustained a somewhat serious injury in the Saints' last match against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup following a heavy collision with Ryan Sessegnon.
The injury looked serious and the 25-year-old was expected to be out on the sideline for a lengthy period, and now it has emerged that Ward-Prowse could be on his way back to the squad quicker than expected.
Blackmore tweeted: “James Ward-Prowse trained today for the first time since his injury at Spurs – Ralph H says he’s looking good for the weekend.
"Kyle Walker-Peters could make his Saints debut – fit and ready to play. So, good news for JWP & KWP !”
Southampton are only six points away from Tottenham who are currently sixth and with the tough fixtures ahead; Ward-Prowse's presence will prove valuable.
