Emmanuel Adebayor made his much-awaited debut for his new club CD Olimpia in the 1-1 draw with Cerro Ponteno in the Paraguayan Classico.
Cerro Ponteno opened the scoring through Churin but Derlis Gonzalez made sure the teams shared the spoils. Olimpia sits fourth on the log with 11 points same as third-placed and arc rivals Cerro Ponteno.
Adebayor was introduced in the second half taking the place of former Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz. The former Arsenal star showed glimpses of his former devastating self with deft touches, telling runs and Gonzalez failed to read his incisive run when through to the goal.
The Togolese star has been a great hit with the Asuncion club which signed over 15,000 new members as one of the conditions that had been set to deliver him to Paraguay.
