Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is hoping that he can cap his season with a call up to the England national team for their Euro 2020 campaign.
The 24-year-old who joined United from Southampton in 2014 has had an off and on the season due to niggling injuries and admitted that he is thinking of Euros despite his concentration currently being in helping United get into the top four.
“Obviously the rest of the season is most importantly about Man United at the moment. We want to get into the top four and of course, we’re still in competitions, so there are still trophies to win.
“I’d be lying if I hadn’t thought about it (England call up), but, you know, I’ve got to keep working hard, keep my head down and whatever happens happens.
“But, of course, it’s everyone’s dream to be involved in Euros. I’m just going to keep my head down, keep working. At the end the day it’s not down to me, it’s of course down to Gareth and I’ll respect whatever he decides,” said Shaw.
Shaw won the last of his eight England caps in September 2018 and was United’s last season’s player of the year.
