Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca has reportedly sacked Sebastien Desabre and lined up former Etoile du Sahel coach Juan Carlos Garrido as the new head coach.
Futaa understands that Wydad parted ways with the former Uganda Cranes coach over the weekend after a string of poor results and sustained pressure from the fans. Desabre has been at the club for slightly over a month.
Moroccan football news website sport.le360.ma reports that Wydad have chosen the former Raja Casablanca tactician to save their flailing local league campaign. Wydad is currently on top of the Botola, the premier league, with 33 points one ahead of RS Berkane.
Wydad has seen its lead at the top of the league slashed to just a point since the arrival of the French gaffer. The trend has seen the club's fans ask for his sacking and the management reportedly ran out of patience with him and subsequently asked him to vacate the role.
The club is yet to officially announce Desabre's departure but it is understood that the club president Said Naciri met and agreed on terms with Garrido to take over the team immediately.
Garrido was sacked early as Etoile head coach early this month after he voiced his concerns over the manner in which the club was being run. He complained that Etoile management did not care about the players' welfare and pointed out other governance issues.
The Spaniard will be tasked with preparing Wydad for the Saturday's CAF Champions League quarterfinal against his immediate former employers Etoile in Casablanca.
. The latter, who broke his amicable contract with the Etoile Sportive du Sahel replaces Desabre but with conditions. The Spanish would have asked to sign his contract with the red club a week before the shock against the Etoile du Sahel in order to properly prepare the players.
