Rwandan giants Rayon Sports are seeking an improved deal from their current short sponsor Skol Brewery.
The Rwanda Premier League defending champions have voted to seek a bumper $210,000 deal which will make the best-sponsored club in Rwanda.
The nine-time league champions in 2017 signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the Belgian brewer worth $58,000 plus developing their training grounds and providing sports gear for the team.
Club president Sadate Munyakazi says that they decided to seek an improved deal due to what the team has done for the Skol brand and the true worth of the team.
“That is actually little money compared to what we do for our sponsor. I'm sure they will agree to the deal due to the fact we are very important to them and the six years we have partnered.”
Munyakazi says that their annual budget is $1.4 million and if Skol declines to improve their sponsorship, they will have to see other partners. Besides sponsorship, the club collects $25000 from fans contribution and matchday gate collections.
Skol executives are yet to comment on Rayon's sponsorship demands.
In January, league rivals APR unveiled a $220,000 deal with Tanzanian media company Azam TV.
