Manchester United January signing Odion Ighalo has revealed he will dedicate his first goal for the club to his late sister.
Ighalo netted the second goal for United as the Red Devils beat Club Brugge 5-0 to advance to the last 16 of the Europa League on Thursday night. The 30-year-old sadly lost his sister Mary Atole in December 2019 and he revealed he is inspired by her to be a success at their childhood club. The Nigerian moved to the Premier League side in January on loan from Shanghai Shenhua. He tapped in Juan Mata's cross and celebrating by revealing an undershirt with a photo dedication to his sister on it, and he says he will continue to do so throughout his time at the club.
"Yeah, the T-shirt is for my late sister," he told MUTV.
"I lost my sister in December, and she is very dear to me, she is a good United fan too.
"We hoped for this moment, but now I am in United she is not here to see what is going on. So it is a bit emotional for me, so I promise myself that every goal I score I will dedicate to her. So she is up there watching me and doing well for United."
