Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has hit back on Barcelona defender Gerard Pique following their El Clasico win on Sunday.
After the game, Pique had said that Real's first-half performance was the worst Madrid he’s ever faced but Ramos insisted he'd gladly play the same way if it meant winning El Clasico.
Speaking to reports after the game, Ramos said: "Everyone's opinion is respected. I sign up to win all Clasicos by making a first-half as bad as he says.
"The approach was different. In the first half, we left the ball and in the second we decided to go. They were not so fresh and we started to generate chances.”
Pique had earlier said that Barcelona's first Clasico league defeat since April 2016 was "a missed opportunity" after they spurned several chances more so in the first half.
“Madrid in the first half was the worst Madrid I’ve faced at the Bernabeu. We missed a chance to hurt them,” Pique said after the game.
Victory for Barca could have seen them extend their lead at the top of Laliga to five points but the loss means Madrid is now on top of the pile, a point above their arch-rivals with twelve games remaining.
