Former Tanzania Premier League champions Yanga on Tuesday moved to third on the league table after a comfortable 2-0 win over Mbao at National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
David Molinga converted a 28th-minute penalty after Feisal Salum had been hacked down in the box. The lone strike was the only goal for the half as the hosts held a slim 1-0 going into the break.
After resumption, Yanga piled more pressure on the Mbao defence with Patrick Siboamana breaking their resilience in the 81st minute.
Yanga leapfrog Namungo to third with 47 points one behind Azam who host leaders Simba later on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there are eight more matches on the card set for Wednesday afternoon.
