Uganda trio of John Revita, Viane Ssekajuo and Mike Mutyaba have been knocked out of contention for the upcoming African Nations Championship due to injuries.
Ssekajugo and Revita had been named in a 34-man provisional squad by head coach Johnny Mckinstry but have not linked up with the rest of the squad at Cambridge International School. Mutyaba fitness issues manifested on Saturday after a week's training.
“Mike Mutyaba reported to us on Saturday that he wasn’t feeling well. The doctor in camp took initial tests but it was decided that the player goes for further tests in hospital,” McKinstry told fufa.co.ug.
“With the insurance that players have, it has given us the chance to conduct other tests which have been completed but there is one more test to be done in conjunction with KCAC FC."
Ssekajugo suffered an injury as he turned for Wakiso Giants in a 2-1 win over Maroons while Revita suffered a knee injury as KCCA lost 2-1 at URA.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Charles Lukwago is ahead of his recovery schedule and might be fit for the tournament.
The shot-stopper dislocated his arm two weeks ago and KCCA medical team had indicated that he might sit out for at least three months.
Others on the injured list include Vipers’ captain Halid Lwaliwa and his teammate Karim Watambala and have been put under specialised training.
