πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ΏπŸ˜· Tanzania suspends league and disbands national team camp

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) on Tuesday suspended football activities in the country as the country grapples with an increasing number of Covid-19.

At the same time, the national team that was preparing for the cancelled African Nations Championship was also sent home. The country's prime minister banned sporting activities in the country for 30 days as well as ordered schools and colleges shut.

The federation said that they were conforming to the health ministry's directives as the country registers three confirmed cases of coronavirus infections.

The outbreak has led to dozens of countries suspending their leagues and tournaments. On Tuesday, CAF suspended CHAN 2020 that was scheduled to take place from April 4 to 25. The African football body had earlier cancelled the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that were set for the last week of March.

At the time of suspension, Simba was leading the league with 71 points while Azam was a distant second with 54 followed by Yanga with 51 points.

TFF was scheduled to meet the Tanzania Premier League board on Wednesday morning to deliberate on the way forward for the league and other football activities in the country.
