Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia has warned clubs not to allow foreign players and coaches to travel to their countries amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Karia says that allowing foreign staff to travel out of the country will be going against the government's directive on how to deal with the pandemic.
“We will not allow them to return to the country. Foreign players who travel to their respective countries during the term of the league will not be allowed to participate in the league as part of the Coronavirus prevention measures,” Karia said.
Tanzania on Friday suspended all its leagues and tournaments as part of Prime Minister Kassim Majuwa's directive on dealing with the highly contagious disease. Tanzania has reported 12 positive Covid-19 cases with six fresh infections reported on Sunday.
By the time of suspension, Simba was leading the Tanzania Premier League with 71 points followed by Azam on 54 points and Yanga is third with 51 points. Simba and Azam have played 28 games while Yanga have a game in hand.
