Rwandan stars Meddie Kagere and Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza have been barred from returning to Tanzania until the coronavirus crisis is managed and is put under control.
The pair will not join their Tanzania Premier League clubs after the President of the Football Federation (TFF) Wallace Karia decreed that no foreign players should leave the country and if they do they will not be allowed back if the league resumes after 30 days.
“We have reminded the clubs that if in 30 days the league resumes, it will not be automatic that foreign players who left the country will be allowed in until we are sure about their health. Some countries might take longer in combating the Coronavirus, something that will have an impact on people coming to Tanzania. Therefore our advice is that foreign players should stay in Tanzania until the league resumes,” Karia said.
Kagere had been in red hot form as his club Simba SC cruised to the Tanzanian league glory. He had netted 17 times in the league helping Simba to open a 17-point gap with second-placed Azam after 26 matches. Yanga are third with 50 points.
Mugiraneza turns out for15th-placed KMC.
