🇬🇦💰 Gabon ordered to pay former coach Garrido $500,000

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has ordered Gabon Football Federation (Fegafoot) to pay former national team coach Jose Antonio Garrido $514,000 for wrongful dismissal.

Garrido took Fegafoot to the highest court in global sports after he was fired in 2016. The country's minister of sports Franck Nguema confirmed receiving the orders.

"I forwarded the decision of Garrido's CAS to my colleague from Finance for support from the budget and the public treasury," Nguema told local newspaper Union du Jour.

Gabon is also entangled in another payment tussle with former coaches Jose Camacho, Daniel Cousin and Jackson Richardson. The pair were sacked in 2018.

Garrido, a former Portuguese player, spent less than a year in charge of Gabon before he was replaced by Camacho.
