Former Simba SC public relations officer Asha Muhaji passed away on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Hindu Mandal Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
The news of her demise was relayed by Simba SC through a statement posted on social media accounts.
"Simba's leadership has received with great sadness the news of the death of our former spokesman, Asha Muhaji, which took place today at the Hindu Mandal Hospital in Dar es Salaam while undergoing treatment," the statement read.
In his condolence message, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Wallace described Muhaji as one of the most influential media personalities in Tanzania football.
Mushaji started her communications career at the Tanzania Post Office before moving to the Majira and Spoti Starehe weekly magazines in the early 1990s. She then moved to Uhuru and soon after Mzalendo. She also worked at Bingwa, Dimba, Mtanzania and Rai magazines before joining Simba as the communications officer under the chairmanship of Alhaj Ismail Aden Rage in 2014.
She left the club in 2017 to pursue her personal journalism career and was involved in publicity of the national team through a group known as Taifa Stars Sapota.
Futaa sends condolences to the Simba fraternity as well as Muhaji's family and friends.
