Coronavirus: Harambee Stars midfielder Kahata comes to aid of Mathare dwellers amid

Harambee Stars and Simba SC midfielder Francis Kahata has come to the aid of Mathare Slum-dwellers amid the ongoing crisis of coronavirus.

Kahata on Sunday visited Mathare 4B and donated a total of 10000 litres of water to the residents as he took them through the steps required to stop the pandemic.

Apart from water, a contribution of hand sanitizers and liquid soaps were distributed during the event graced by a section of local football fans who acted as volunteers during the event.

According to the midfielder, the donation was a promise he had made to the residents before having complained that they didn't have enough clean water for their households.

Kahata is the latest Stars player to be involved in a charity in these times with others being defender Eric 'Marcelo' Ouma, Johanna Omolo and Stars captain Victor Wanyama who in conjunction with Red Cross and Gina Din Company, visited Mathare on Saturday.

Kahata is in the country after the suspension of the Tanzania Premier League due to the pandemic that is sweeping across the world.

The former Thika United and KF Tirana midfielder joined Simba SC immediately after the 2019 African Cup of Nations as a free agent after his contract with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia ran out.
