Liverpool's coach Gronnemark suggests he could join Man United or Spurs next season

Liverpool's Thomas Gronnemark has suggested that he could leave the club for rivals Manchester United or Spurs in the coming season.

Gronnemark was appointed by Klopp 18 months ago as their specialist in throw-in coaching and has been taking sessions with the Reds on a freelance basis since August 2018.

Speaking to the Kicker on Friday, The Dane said: “I don’t know, maybe I’ll be with Tottenham or Manchester United next year, as I’m not tied down as a freelancer.

“I’m just not allowed to be a direct competitor in any one season, that’s my rule. That’s why I have already turned down a top offer from England this season.

“But I would very much like to prove myself in Germany. I don’t know of anyone who does it professionally as I do. But of course, more and more people are recognizing the potential, and now some co-trainers are looking into the subject.”

During his appointment, Klopp said: “When I heard about Thomas, it was clear to me I wanted to meet him; when I met him, it was 100 per cent clear I wanted to employ him. Now he is here and we work on that from time to time.

His move had been ridiculed by a section of the club fans but his efforts have been seen with Liverpool having improved in their ability to retain possession from throw-ins.
