Guinea is the latest country to void their season as coronavirus pandemic jolts the sporting world.
On Friday, Guinea AF announced that the Championnat National has been cancelled becoming the fourth country in Africa to void their campaigns. Mauritius, Kenya and Angola have already declared their campaigns null.
“We don’t know when this pandemic will go away. With the approach of the rainy season and the presence of the pandemic, we have decided that we have to stop the championship,” president of the Guinean Professional Football League Mathurin Bangoura said.
The Guinean league kicked off in October and was to be completely June before it was halted halfway through.
The move means that Guinea will not have league champion this year and there will be no allegations either. However, the federation will announce the representatives to continental championships based on league standings.
