SuperSport United supreme central defender, Clayton Daniel, has explained why Rushine De Reuck and others stood out for him this season.
The 34-year-old defender speaks from a position of having helped United to third position where he played 23 games in 24. It is therefore interesting to see which players Daniels believes are as superb as him…
“"It's a great honour for me to be amongst the top defenders this season, and to be seen in that light is huge especially at this period of my career," Daniels said to Kick Off.
"It all comes down to hard work, dedication and passion for the game which I still have, so I just feel like doing more. We've already won the MTN8 and we are in the top four. I'm just happy I can contribute to the team.
The former Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns defender including his high regard and rating of players like De Reuck, Nazier Allie, Thapelo Morena and Daniel Cardoso.
The other defenders I feel have done well this season, firstly the Maritzburg United youngster Rushine De Reuck, he's been outstanding this campaign.
"And we need to give lot of credit to Nazeer Allie for guiding him at the back.
"At Mamelodi Sundowns, Thapelo Morena was doing well. It's a pity about his injury but he had a good season. Also Mosa Lebusa raised his hand even though he hasn't been getting minutes lately.
"Daniel Cardoso at Kaizer Chiefs has been consistent this season. He made fewer mistakes at the back and he's been scoring a lot of goals, which is good for a defender,” Daniels concluded.
