The 24-year-old has been a critical figure for Aston Villa, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
Dean Smith's side were 19th on the Premier League standings before the league was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Villa will be aiming to keep their star player but they are prepared for his exit if they suffer the drop because of the number of clubs interested in his signature.
The Red Devils chief Ed Woodward has admitted that big-money move will be affected by the financial strain caused by the coronavirus pandemic but Villa are adamant they will be sticking to their asking price.
United are also interested in acquiring Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho but the Black and Yellow side want no less than £120m for their star player.
