🇬🇭 Why Patrick Twumasi snubbed Celtic for Deportivo Alavés

Patrick Twumasi has opened up on why he turned down a move to Celtic and joined LaLiga side Deportivo Alaves.

Twumasi, currently on loan at Turkish side Gazişehir Gaziantep from Alaves says he was in touch with Brendan Rodgers but he had to weigh options with his agent before settling for the Spanish side. The Ghanian international was a target for Celtic after impressing against the Scottish club during a Europa League match where he netted two goals as Astana stunned the Celts 4-3 in 2017.

"I remember I had an offer from Celtic, they really wanted me when I was in Astana because I played against them in the Champions League game and I did very well," he said as quoted by 442gh.com

"Rogers spoke to me after the game and after some days he got my number and called me. He told me he wanted me at the Club. Even though I was interested I was weighing the options on the table together with my agent and it happened that we settled on Alaves."

"Maybe Celtic would have been good for me but you never know, such things are bound to happen sometimes."

The 26-year-old has netted five goals while providing eight assists in 15 appearances for Gaziantep.
