Sergio Agüero is a bona fide City legend after his goal-scoring exploits on the blue half of Manchester that have delighted audiences for almost nine full seasons.
Futaa's latest Premier League icons series examines and celebrates the current all-time leading goalscorers of the traditional "big six" from England's top-flight.
Agüero is one of only two players in history to hit 20+ goals in five consecutive English top-flight seasons, a fact that reminds us of his consistently brilliant goal-scoring abilities. Quantitatively, the numbers all check out for the little Argentine, but on a qualitative and emotional level, he stole Manchester City fans' hearts in 2012 on the final day of the season with his dramatic stoppage-time goal against QPR.
⚽️ Agüero: 2011 - present
When the stocky striker arrived from Atlético Madrid in a £35m deal some nine years ago, he started scoring goals and has just never stopped. In terms of foreign imports to the English top-flight, he leads the way with 180 goals and counting, and he's the fourth-most prolific goal-scorer on the all-time EPL scoring charts. He has made a direct contribution to a goal (either by way of a goal or an assist) every 85 minutes of his Premier League career, the finest ratio of any player with 100+ Premier League appearances in the competition's history.
🥜 Agüero's Man City career in a nutshell
- 🏟 368 appearances across all competitions
- ⚽️ 254 goals
- 🎯 72 assists
