Onana plays for Ajax Amsterdam while Ondoa turns out for Belgian side KV Oostende. The pair have always given Cameroon national team coaches a headache on who starts ahead of the other.
Speculations have swirled suggesting that the two are locked in a vicious battle to be the country's undisputed number one. But Onana has clarified that there is mutual respect between them.
“Fabrice helped me a lot when I joined Barcelona as he had arrived a year earlier. We have a very good relationship. He is like my older brother and I give him the respect he deserves at the national team. We are in competition but we remain a family," he told a Cameroonian radio station.
Onana and Ondoa are cousins and both came through Barcelona's academy before moving on to other clubs.
However, Onana has been heavily linked with a return to Camp Nou and has suggested that he might leave the Dutch club in the summer transfer window.
