Manchester City are fighting to keep highly-rated defender Eric Garcia amid interest from Barcelona.
City signed Garcia in 2017 from Barcelona's La Masia academy and the teenager has continued his development under the watchful eye of Pep Guardiola.
The 19-year-old starred in City's tour of the United States in 2018 and had made his senior debut by December of that season after overcoming an injury that kept him out of the opening months of the campaign.
Guardiola rates the defender highly and has likened him to Sergio Busquets and regularly praised him for his maturity and lack of mistakes.
Reports indicate that Barcelona want to tempt the defender back to the city where many of his friends and family still reside.
ESPN reported last week that City rejected initial inquiry from the Catalans who are said to be encouraged by the fact a new contract at the Etihad beyond his deal that runs out in 2022 has not been announced.
However, City sees Garcia as an integral part of their future plans and will make sure they fight off any attempts by Barca to lure the youngster back to Spain.
